Question

Group's answer

My answer

a ) To heat the ring .
b ) The ring need to become bigger in order for the ball to pass through , so we heat the ring thus the molecules in the ring overcome the attractive forces between them , causing the increase in distance between the molecules . As the inner circle of the ring cannot provide enough space for the molecules to spread out , the ring will only expand outwards to gain more space to move freely .

Both the parquet and the tiles have the same temperature , but the tile is a better conductor of thermal energy than the parquet . So as the body which has higher temperature than the tile transfer more thermal energy at a higher rate to the tile compared to the parquet which is a poorer conductor of thermal energy . This is because thermal energy travels from a hotter region to a colder region .

Mr Suria's question

Group's answer

Personal answer

Think 1

When we enter the air conditioned room , the surrounding air is has a lower temperature than our body temperature . So as thermal energy travels from the hotter region to the colder region , our hotter body temperature was lost to the colder surrounding air . Thus , we feel colder .

Think 2

When we came out of the swimming pool ,  our body was wet due to the water droplets , thus colder than the surrounding  air . As thermal energy travels from the hotter region to the colder region , the colder water droplets on our body gains heat from our body and the surrounding air and evaporate , thus we shiver to shake off some water droplets , thus transfer less thermal energy to the water droplets from the body in order to feel warm .
